Gratitude

July 22

Hey, parents!

It was another day of working, eating, and socializing with the locals. Vincent arrived around noon and everyone welcomed him with open arms. After we introduced ourselves to Vincent, most of us went to the river to cool off after a hard morning of labor. We had a refreshing lunch at Elda’s house and returned to work on the church and building. When the afternoon was coming to an end, all of us were excited to watch the U.S. v. Costa Rica game. We ate at a pizzeria in town a mile away from us that we walked to. It took around half an hour to reach the pizzeria. Once we got there, we devoured the pizza and continued watching the game. The U.S. ended up winning, which upset the Ticos, but our group was happy. At the end of the day, we were all tired and ready to return home to rest. Vincent drove some of us home, instead of walking back, and everyone automatically fell asleep due to the long day full of hard work. It was a great day of getting to know Vincent and we are extremely grateful he was able to join us on our trip.
